Casserole or dish warmer/carrier (insulated)

The temperature dropped below zero F last night! It's about time to make insulated carrier for your dish or casserole, especially if you're having potluck party or visiting your family and friends.
This carrier will hold most round/oval casserole dishes and the smaller square dishes.
Materials needed -
Cotton print for outer & straps, minimum 7/8 yd.
Cotton woven coordinate for inner, minimum of 5/8 yd.
Insulbrite insulating batting - minimum 5/8 yd.
Pellon 808 or 809 for the strap - 20" x 4"
2 plastic round rings or 2 metal D-rings 1 1/2" or larger.

Step 1
Cut the following pieces -
From print - 24" square
one 4" wide x 44" long strip
From coordinate - 21" square
From insulbrite - 21" square
Step 2 - on a large work table lay the print 24" square insulbrite, outer fabric (right side up) & lining fabric (wrong side up).
Step 3 - Trim up the lining and insulbright so they are even.
Pin in several places to hold layers together.
Step 4 - Stitch layers together leaving opening.
Step 5 - Turn it out and stitch the opening on the right side (by hand or machine). I used decorative stitch for outside border.
Step 6 - Cut the 42" x 2 1/2" long strip of fabric for the strap (or 21" x 4 1/2"). Fuse strap of Pellon 808 or 809 stablizer. Stitch on the sides, turn it out, stitch the open side.
Step 7 - Pin diagonally corner to corner of inside of carrier. I put it at a distance 4 1/2" from corners.
Step 8 - Put the rings (or D Rings) through each of the two other corners. Fold in half and stitch in place securely. I used decorative stitch, makes it stronger.
Step 9 - Casserole carrier gets centered under the long strap and you put the strap through each D ring and pull up over the dish.
Stay warm and enjoy!
