Quilting Bees 10th anniversary

Our guild is celebrating 10th anniversary of its foundation this year!
The preparations for this event started long time ago, last year, right after our quilt show in August.
Our first president Susan Emory was also invited to the celebration, but unfortunately she passed away this spring.
We are so proud of our oldest lady in a guild Edith Brophy, who is one of the founders of our guild. We celebrated her 90th birthday last September and she is always with us, taking part in every event and activity in our guild! I wish I was like her when I am 90. She is a great example to follow! Wishing her all the best and stay with us as long as possible !
We also decided to invite some famous quilters to our anniversary and we voted for several of them So, the winners were Tim Latimer and Pat Sloan!
When we went to Paducah Quilt show in April,

Pat Sloan was there, so we stopped by at the end of her class and had a chance to introduce ourselves in person and to talk about our event and how much we all are excited about it and looking forward to see her in Murfreesboro.

And here she is! Such a talented lady!

Great lecture, beautiful quilts, interesting presentation!

And here's our crowd!

Tim Latimer is amazing! He can do unbelievable renovation with any quilt! He is hand quilting, machine quilting and all he is doing is just quilting, 14 hours a day - that's what he said!!!! Here are some of his amazing works:

You can learn more about Tim Latimer and Pat Sloan, find them on Facebook and join the conversation!
Enjoy!

And I am going to the Applique class with Pat sloan!

Happy sewing!

Class with Nancy Prince

I took a class on thread sketching with Nancy Prince at the Mountain Quiltfest show in Pigeon Forge this year (2016 , btw, for the history...)
This was an example we were working on.
 5,4,3,2,1 - ready to start!
This is my first attempts:

She said: "Pretty good!"
I did not finish it all during the class, so I could't resist temptation to keep stitching when came back to my cabin. Ooops! What can be worse, than being run out of thread, the color you need! It sucks!!! Just three petals left unattended??? Hate it, hate it, hate it!!!!

.............................4 days gap......................
Found the right color thread. Back to work.
Done!

Do I need that pink frame? Not really. I want something else. Will be working on it....
See you!

Happy sewing!

"No math method" of making geometry pattern

All right!
Yesterday I was getting ready to teach the class on my "No math method of making geometry patterns". Forget about inches and calculation, all you can do is just fold your freezer paper and use the bend of it as a stitching line!
This was my sample.
And this is what we've done all together today!
The most exciting moment was when we joined all 12 segments in one piece!

Good job, girls! Thank you for learning with me this method! I hope you enjoyed!
I guess this is a good idea for my next tutorial!

Happy sewing!

Landscape quilts

Yesterday I was honorably invited to the Lakeshore guild, TN to teach a class about landscape quilts.
I made this quilt by picture taken couple years ago in Great Smoky Mountains.

Watch this video to see how this quilt was created .
I prepared bunch of pictures with different type of designs and landscapes for the class.
We had a lot of fun working together on designs, fabric choice, tools and other supplies.

And here's some results of our work!

I am looking forward to see the completed works!
Thank you, ladies for inviting me! I enjoyed the friendly and warm atmosphere. Thanks for the breakfast, coffee and lunch too! I had so much fun with you yesterday!
