Singer Featherweight, tote and workstation 2 in 1

 Ну вот я её и сделала! Tutorial is here!
А как долго собиралась! То заказы, то путешествия, то квилт-шоу всяческие, то просто домашние дела.. А ведь собиралась с тех самых пор, как мне мой драгоценный муж вот так взял, нашёл и купил маленькую, портативную машинку Singer Featherweight, которая, кстати говоря, почти одного возраста с ним, а чем старше, тем. как известно, драгоценнее!

 Да, у неё есть конечно ящик-чемоданчик для переноски, но мне нужно было что-то такое, чтобы вот так вытащить, поставить и сразу начать шить, ну чтоб всё при ней, всё на месте. А когда закончил, опять же вжик-вжик и поехала!

Быстро сказка сказывается да не скоро дело делается,- это точно! Я уже, конечно, написала почти с полсотни всяческих tutorials (типа мастер-классов, но всё же не совсем), и самое главное это не составить схему и описать, сколько продумать все детали и их функциональность в действии. Обычно я всё делаю как для себя, ни с кем не сверяюсь, ни с кем не советуюсь и ничего не подсматриваю. Мне нужно сделать так, чтобы мне самой это нравилось и чтобы я сама смогла воспользоваться этой шпаргалкой в любое время, если понадобится опять сделать это на бис.

 Как-то и тканьки подходящие подсобрались, и мысли сложились в кучу, и попалось свободное  время на писанину, фотосессию и сбор воедино.

 Ну нравится, не могу отрицать! Одно удовольствие: прочный нейлон снаружи, молнии по углам, тканька с машинками внутри, ручки не пристроченные, а в петлях, чтобы свободно можно было подвытянуть их спереди и чтоб между ног не болтались, когда шьёшь.

 Короче, я довольна! И, судя по ажиотажу, не я одна! Один магазинчик, который занимается продажей и сервисом таких машинок, даже заключили со мной договор, что будут перечислять мне ежемесячно проценты от продаж! Клёво!

Proceeding to the next step.

 This was the most intricate and challenging part of pieing and assembling this quilt.

 If you do free motion quilting, you might like these tiny but very bright LED finger lights!

They are available in my Etsy store.

These Laser Finger Beams have bright LED bulbs mounted in small cases that fit on your fingers with an elastic strap.

Size:1.6*1.6*4cm
Powered:3 x*AG3 batteries (included)

White color light (recommended for sewing) will brighten the area around the sewing needle. Extremely helpful for free motion quilting, especially when working on dark fabrics.

Elastic band will hold it tight on the top of your finger, so you can still feel the fabric with your finger tips.
Also helps in cleaning your sewing machine or bobbin area. 

Long armers will appreciate this little helper, when changing the bobbin.

Other colors will make any gathering beautiful!
Whether you're heading to a party or into fun long-exposure (shutter lag) photography, these are sure to entertain.
They are also WATERPROOF! Will decorate your bottles, cups, glasses, balloons, swim suits, flip flops, bicycles, etc....

How to use bobbin winder for the larger size spools

Did you know, you can use your bobbin winder on the sewing machine to wind more thread on the regular size spool?

It's always cheaper to buy anything in bulk or in larger amounts. 

When I buy large size of Sulky, Aurifil, Kingtut or Superior threads, yes, I always win in price, but it's not not always convenient having a big spool, especially when you travelling, go for a class or guild meetings.

It also applies to serger or coverlock, when I need 4 spools of the same color at a time, but I have only one available (or 2-3, still not enough!), you would like this tip to know how to rewind it. 

Just buy sticky Velcro circles 

and punch the whole in the center.

Attach one to the bobbin and one to the empty spool.

Ready!

Just hold the top of the spool, when winding, to prevent it from wobbling.

Needle threaders: what's the difference?

If you are a beginner in sewing and quilting, you might want to know the difference between needle threaders: why some of them are cheap, but the other ones, Clover or Tulip type, are much more expensive. Are they worth the money? Yes, to me! Watch my video and see the difference

Finally, after several attempts I made it perfectly fit my hand! Made of spandex, tight and comfy! In-built magnets hold scissors, pins, wonder clips on the outside part of the hand, which doesn't affect your sewing. Also has a pocket.


I literally don't take it off, so comfortable,  embraces my hand like my second skin!

 I divided one long separated zipper for two: one for the top of the bag and one for the exterior pocket. All you need is remove some teeth and add the puller.

You will learn how to make 5 different types pockets and some other handy tips . This bag has 18 pockets, plus additional vinyl clear bags, attached to the swivel hook for smaller items (needles, embellishments, templates, small rulers, thimbles, etc). Large zippered pockets are the size of a standard magazine, will also fit ipad/tablet or small cutting mat. Traditional size patterns will fit smaller pockets. Multiple tools, scissors, cutters, etc. are vertically stored in mesh pockets, efficiently saving the room and providing an easy access. There is enough room in between the pockets for the fabrics, plastic divided boxes, miniature iron, thread spools, and other items. 6”x12” or any smaller ruler will easily slide under the pockets, making the bottom even sturdier. 

Separating zipper on the top provides using the flap side of the bag as an ironing pad, which can be replaced by beading mat for jewelry makers, chalk board for drawings and notes, foam or plastic pad for other crafts.
